I have a softmodded xbox with xbmc as the default dash. All of a sudden, when I turn on my xbox, I get the microsoft startup sequence, followed by a blank black screen. I have tried holding down the two thumbsticks at startup as well as the White and Y buttons during startup as suggested in the faq. I have also tried using 2 different boot disks (slayers & AID) but they did not work. My xbox will however play normal xbox games, but not dvds. Is there a way for me to gain ftp access to fix the problem? any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey there, when the XBOX boots to a blank screen do you here any audio from the TV when you press any buttons? If so then just start guessing the IP with an FTP program and see what happens.

IF you have a xbox mem card and action replay or something that will boot on your xbox. Then get or barrow the AUF(agent under fire) disk and put the unleashx soft mod exploit on it and boot from the mem card and it will take you to the unleashx screan once it boots. Then find you ip and ftp it and fix what ever you broke.

thanks for the help. I finally got a hold of MECH ASSAULT but now cannot figure out how to boot from the action replay memory card. Should I try to get agent under fire?

try the hotswap tutorial to rebuild your softmod. you need to put the MA gamesave on the harddrive first! and then boot your game. then you will get in the softmod menu again (look for the softmod tutorials, every step is explained with pictures....)

thanks for the help! unfortunately I cannot figure out how to get the MA gamesave from the action replay to my hard drive because I cannot boot into the default xbox dash, all I get is a blank screen on startup unless I put the game in.
