Just because you have mp3 as an option on your DVD player , it (more than likely) will only play mp3 on CD-R.

[might be different if you was talking about a later version PS2 w/ modchip + media player].

My Sony 400 Disc DVD Player only supports MP3's on CD-R.

Check your user manual to find out if your player can an MP3-DVD.
Look for a statement like "DVD-Video Only" which means you won't be able to use an MP3-DVD.
Data-DVD, Audio-DVD, MP3-DVD would suggest that you can play MP3's burnt to DVD.

Most players won't play MP3-DVD's because the units simply don't have enough memory to handle the wealth of information encoded in nearly 5GB of MP3's.

An MP3-DVD is considered to be a data disc.

Hope this helps.

Why not just decode them to wavs and burn them on DVD as if you were making a music cdr....Youll fit less songs, but really with 4,7 GB of music do you really need anymore than the 100 odd songs you could prolly fit

Burning WAV files to CDA (CD Audio, the CD format) on a DVD probably won't work either. Your player will recognize the disc as a DVD with a non-DVD format. This type of Mega CD will confuse most players and as a result won't play.

Most players first decide what type of media is being read and then applies playback rules for that media. So a DVD is suppossed to have a VIDEO_TS folder in in the root directory, if not the disc won't play.

So, only if your DVD player allows the use od Data-DVD's with MP3's burnt on it, you'll have to use Data-CD's for MP3's and CD's with CDA files for music.

Hope this helps.
