Hi

I am new to this forum, I just want to say hello and I hope your all having a good time here.
I have a problem, when I rip or play dvds on my laptop the picture gets smudged, subsequently if I play the dvd on my dvd player after I play it on my laptop the picture is still smudged, Sometimes if I play the dvd on my ps3 beforehand some titles do not get smudged, however I want to be able to backup my dvds regardless and I do not know how to fix this. I am Using Windows Vista Ultimate 32 bit and I have a nvidia 8400M GS Graphics card. I have the latest version of anydvd and vlc media player 0.8.6. This problem happens with many of my dvds notably simpsons and family guy ones.
Here I have Included pictures of the dvd with the problem. When these dvds are smudged I see a notch at the top of the screen. The titles that do not have this notch seem not to have the problem.

This is the picture without the blur.

This is the Picture with the blur

I would be very happy if anyone could help me fix this as the smudged picture ruins my enjoyment of my dvds.

I still can't see both pictures, but I believe it to be an interlacing issue. Right Click on the vid while it's playing and there will be an option for de-interlacing (it might be a sub menu of the Video menu).

I have tried all types of deinterlacing and the picture still appears smudged. It also happens on my crt tv so it cant be a deinterlacing issue.
