For years now I've relied on a conversion program to turn my AVI into a playable file for my personal DVD Player. I had used VSO DivxToDVD or ConvetXtoDVD and then Nero or Imgburn to burn with. A process that takes at least 2 hours and usually more. You have to wait 2 hours for the conversion and then 2 hours for the burn. Not anymore!

With the purchase of a new DVD player, I now burn AVI's and all Image Files in 2-7 minutes with Imgburn. It's so simple, all I needed was a DVD player capable of reading the disk. I burned Step Brothers in 3 minutes, I burned the entire Family Guy season 6 on 4 disks in just 12 minutes. It's awesome.

The Player is this: Philips DVP3960 Multi-Region Codefree PAL/ NTSC DVD Player with HDMI 1080i

Good luck!

Don't know what kind of burner you have, but I have never had a burn take 2 hours to complete!!

Takes 2 hours to convert and burn - I guess it is actually the conversion that is time consuming.

I have a BenQ 1640

Takes 2 or more hours for a full movie. This is when using NeroVision to burn image file. I'm adding the conversion time.

When I burn with Imgburn it takes minutes.

All you needed was a dvd player that can play avi format. They have been around for a while, and have been suggested a few times in the forum.

all well and good for you! But when your friends and family want to borrow a disk for viewing at their home....... you'll be SOL! Most likely they only have a DVD player that plays only DVD standard format. But, to each their own. My collection will play on ANY DVD player! I booktype and I use the best media: Taiyo Yuden. Haven't had any problems with any of my burns and it's going on 4 yrs now!

Also I don't understand if you use ConvertXToDVD or the old DivXToDVD why didn't you burn right away with those programs? They burn just fine using VSO's burning engine! You don't have to jump all around to Nero or Imgburn..... just set those programs to burn after the conversion!

Conversion times will vary depending on your computers speed.
