I have only been burning movies for a couple of months. I am not a pro at it by any means and I have tried searching for an answer but have had no luck so I am hoping that someone can help me.

First off I am running Windows Vista if that is a question.

A few weeks ago I tried burning the movie War but when using Dycrypter it would have read errors at 7%. It would try over and over again to re-read but did not work. When the error message comes up it has three options: Retry, Ignore, and Abort. I have tried ingnoring and retrying but neither worked. Eventually I gave up. I have burned several movies since then and I have had no issues. A few nights ago I tried burning Get Smart and ran into the same problem. I thought that maybe the disc was scratched or dirty so I cleaned and inspected it and it is fine. I have tried rebooting the computer thinking that if I cleared the cache, maybe it would work but once again it didn't. The process that I have been doing in order to burn a movie is rip using Dycrypter to an ISO, opening that ISO in DVD Shrink and compressing it, and then using Imagburn to burn it. I have not had any play back issues and other than these 2 movies, I have never had a problem burning. Does anyone know what is going on?

Ok thank you for your reply. Is this a common problem with Dycrypter? Correct me if I am wrong but I have heard that Dycrypter has a hard time on newer movies because the protection is more advanced.

Also can I use this program to rip to an ISO file like I am used to? If not what other programs will be needed in order to actually burn the disc?

Dvd decrypter has not been updated in several years. Dvdfab HD decrypted can handle newer encryptions.

After ripping to your hard drive, use fixvts to clean up the files.

You can then use dvd sahrink to compress the files and make an iso image.

I installed DVDfab HD and was able to rip to my hard drive with no problems. I then tried to use fixvts to clean up the files and it said that it could only use VOB files. So I moved all of the VOB files under the video folder. It went through the process but DVD Shrink will still not open the files so I was still unable to burn?! What am I doing wrong?
