dvd stopping during video

recently my friend gave me a video which I burned onto a dvd he video was in format.avi, I have a nice Sony dvd player which is averse to the cheap kind that really don't play dvd videos. I used Convert X to DVD newest update and burned the video, I don't know whether it is the encoding process or the burning process, but whenever I try playing the dvd in the sony dvd player, the video plays and abruptly after 10 or 15 minutes the video just stops and freeze's and skips to the beginning. I am tired of wasting dvd's I have Maxell or Maxwell I don't know the spelling, they are good kind, but I do not know what the problem, I really appreciate it if someone can assist me with my problem. Please and Thanks.

yeah it Maxell and they usally aren't very good media try using Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim burning at 6x to 8x max with the most up to date firmware for you're drive/burner on a clean machine(doing a disc cleanup and defragging often)

I have another question, I have Cyberlink Power2Go and I just burned a video and the codec was xvid but I guess Cyberlink encoded it to divx, is there a way in which I can make it stay Xvid? because one of my dvd players does not support divx. Plz tell me how? Please and Thanks.

if it doesn't have any protection on the xvid dvd you can just use a disc copier like nero or imgburn

I found the solution, And I Used Maxell, somehow the dvd worked fine. Except the Zenith dvd player didn't work (Cheap kind) Sony and Symphonic worked.m :)

also if you are using the DVD plus R format try booktyping to DVD-ROM or use the DVD dash R format they should play in everything
