I just recently got a new PS2. 90001 model. I got an imported game to it. In order to play it, I ordered Swap Magic 3.6 with the flip top.
So, I opened PS2 in order to replace the lid, and I didn't check the disks first (even though I really should have...) I tried to be careful, but I'm kind of a novice at this sort of things.
I put everything together to the best of my abilities. I wanted to start playing, however... CD disk loads fine, without any problems. DVD, on the other hand does not run. It gets past "Playstation 2" logo, but after that the disk is just spinning, and the screen is black.
Is the problem with just the DVD disk? Or with the box itself? And is there any way to fix it?
I don't exactly sure what you mean by original DVD... If you mean other games, then this imported one is the only one I have, and it is in the wrong format. If you mean movies that are on DVD disks... I checked them, they do play fine.
But thanks! I wrote to that company asking if I could exchange just the disk. It could be problematic, however, if they would ask for everything back, since the flip top had to go through modifications in order to fit in...
For some reason I decided to test the disk again, and for a couple of times it did work. Now it doesn't again. Why?
Mine did that too when I returned it. I remember wandering if it was my PS2, but all my other PS2DVD games worked fine.
Its hard to say exactly why, if its not pressed tightly enough against the spindle, part of the disk itself may not have burned perfectly.
