I AM AT THIS TIME USING MAGNAVOX-R1-16 DISCS,BUT ABOUT EVERY OTHER ONE SKIPS AND FREEZES,I HAD A LOT OF PROBLEMS WITH MEMOREX,BUT GOOD SUCCESS WITH TDK.REALLY I HAVE BEEN BUYING THE ONES I FOUND ON SALE.BEING FAIRLY NEW COULD YOU TELL ME WHAT DETERMINES THE BURNING SPEED.I NOTICED YOU RECCOMENDED 4X.HOW CAN I ACHIEVE THIS SPEED.WES

Turn off those caps Wes - all caps are considered to be shouting.

The best burning program is Imgburn.

Burn DVD's at half the speed shown on the package or 4x.
Because of the variable quality of most name brand DVD's, only buy 'Verbatim' or 'Taiyo Yuden'

'Taiyo Yuden' are only available through mail order in North America.

As attar said get rid of the bad media you have and find some Verbatims in store and TYs on line. They are the best. Sony and some Ritek media are not much worse. I've never seen a magnavox blank dvd, memorex has had it's problem as has TDK. So why did you go away from the tdk that you said did ok.

Is this a new setup? Is the firmware for you burner up to date? Did you just switch to this X16 Magnavox media from the tdk? If so it's probably a firmware issue.
