Hi,
Several days ago I asked the Newbis Forum for help in the following problem. Since I did get no answer, I thought perhaps in this forum there is somebody whou could help me.
After entering the files to be burned with Nero Express or Nero Burning Room (in this case pictures) - and before starting to burn - I was looking for some up and down arrows which would enable me to change the sequence of some of the pictures; however I dont see there such a possibility (neither did I see such in Ashampoo Burning stuff). Hence, I am looking for some other good burning programs, which would enable me to do so.
Thanks in advance for any help.

Then you have to go with the best of the best, ImgBurn:

Many thanks Cyprusrom.
As a matter of fact, before I got your message I installed ImgBurn and tried it, however, as I didn't see there the up & down arrows, I uninstalled it. Now, after reaing your message, I reinstalled the ImgBurn and found that in order to see does arrows, one should select "switch to large size".

Hi,
I have a folder with 3 avi files, which I wanted to burn into one disc, by using the "Write files/folders to disc" option of ImgBurn. I have acted as follows:-
First (after clicking on "Write files/folders to disc"), I dragged into ImgBurn the file I waned to be the first in the burned disc, next I draged the file I wanted to be the second and then I draged the third file.
To be on the safe side, I cliked on the "Switch to the large size" arrow and - after making sure that the sequence of the files is as selected by me - I clicked on the "Return to the normal size" arrow, and then I went to the "Mode" menu and clicked on "Write".
To my surprise, I found that in the burned disc the file which I selected to be the third, appeares the first, and the file I selected to be the first appeares the second. What can be the reason for that ?
Thanks in advance

It does not sound a burning software problem...
When you burning pictures/video on the disk, the burning software does not make any changes to the files.
When you say, ?appears the first?, do you mean in some kinds of media player? I do not think such program cares which file written first or in which part of disk its written. It may be showing in order of file names? (Adding numbers to the file names might help.)

Hi grampyga and thanks for trying to help,
When I put the disk in my LG DVD player (which is connected to my TV) there I see the list of the 3 video files, and the one which was supposed to be the third is the first.
As to your suggestion to number the items : If that's what solves the problem, wwhat for are the up and down arrows of ImgBurn ?

First, let me correct my previous post. By reading ImgBurn Guide, it can change time stamp of the files. So it changes the files (Its property data on the space already given.) It may or may not be able to change some other property values too.
?what for are the up and down arrows of ImgBurn ??
To be honest, I really do not know. But I do not think it is for your purpose.
I know that many (recent) DVD players are able to play different types of media format other than regular DVD(movie)and CD(music/Sound). Though I do not think that AVI (or Jpeg) files on recordable DVD do have a rule how it should be written (Standardized format) to give an order to be played. So different DVD players may act different ways with your burned DVD. (File list you seeing on your TV is created by your DVD player. ImgBurn does not write a file list on your DVD.)
You may want to convert your AVI to regular DVD format and even create menu with a video authorizing software.

I'm not overly familiar with ImgBurn, but I'm guessing the up and down arrows determine what file will be written first on the disc. That doesn't mean they'll show up in that order when you look at the disc's contents with a DVD player on in Windows. Typically that will list the files in alphabetical order, which doesn't change based on which one was written first.

I think Vurbal is right.
In my dvd/divx player, the AVI files always appear in
alphabetical order on the TV screen, no matter what "order" they were
burned in. Isn't yours the same?
I always use numbers to "force" the order. For example,
01 movie1.avi
02 movie2.avi
etc, etc, and that's the order they appear.
Secondly, Nero has the capability of setting files "priority".
I believe that the higher priority files will be written first.
that is, nearest to the center of the disk, while lower "priority"
files will follow, moving out towards the periphery. But this has
nothing to do with the order I mentioned above.

Hi grampyga, Vurbal and davexnet, and thanks for trying to help me.
Now to the point:
I perfectly agree with all of you, that no matter in which order one places the items in ImgBurn, or any other burning program, when one puts the burned disc into a PC's CD compartment, the items included in the disc appear in alphabetical order. However:
(1) I refered to the order the items appear when I put the disc into my standalone DVD Player;
(2) Ever since Cyprusrom drew my attention to the possibility to set the order of the items by using the up and down arrows of ImgBurn, I have burned several disc with ImgBurn, and in all those cases - except for the last one - the order in which the items appeared in the DVD player was as they have been placed by me.
I used to burn audio files with Roxies Easy CD Creater and - since that program enabled to move the files up and down - I wondered why Nero and other programs for burning videos don't enable it, until Cyprusrom drew my attention to the up and down arrows of ImgBurn.
The possibility to solve the problem by "numbering" the items, is not new to me, and in the specific case mentioned by me (with just three files) it's very easy; however, some time ago I had to burned a disc consisting of about 20 image files (which I wanted to appear in a certain order) and that's why I wanted to know what could be the reason that this time (with the three video files)the up and down arrows of ImgBurn failed to do the job.
Thanks agai

My standalone DVD player alphabetizes the items.
What does yours do?

When you burn Video Clips on recordable DVD in Standard format, or Burn music on recordable CD as AUdio CD, the information of the order of the tracks are contained and written on the disk. It should play in the order regardless which stand-alone player you use.
However when you write AVI or JPEG (or in any other format) with IMGBurn, such additional information won?t be created or written on the disk. (Just backing up the data files.)
Like as vurbal and davexnet mentioned, most likely IMGBurn will write the files onto the disk in the order you specified (inside to the outside.). It is quite possible YOUR DVD player read the files in that order to show on TV screen. Or It may re-sort by alphabetical order before show it on your screen. Other DVD player may or may not act same way. Your DVD player has its own rule how those files to show and you need to find it.

Hi davexnet and grampyga,
Indeed, unlike usually, in the case I refered to I wrote the disc in avi format, so now - after reading grampyga's explanation - I understand why my standalone DVD player alphabetizes the items, "dissregarding" the order I selected with IMgBurn.
Many thanks
