I have PowerDVD 8 that opens whenever a DVD is inserted into the drive. How do I stop this?

You can also disable "Autoplay" for your drive, or select what do you want it to do for each specific type of disc that you insert.

I checked and I turned it off but it still occurs.

That is something I don't want to do, I do use "Autoplay" for other functions

Okay, check the picture above, try to set the function desired for each type of disc inserted.

If that doesn't work, you could try disabling PowerDVD's autoplay in the registry.

Do you know where that is located?

I surmise it did not work?
Go into the registry and look for something like this( I don't have PowerDVD, but it should look similar; be careful what you delete/change):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CyberLink\PowerDVD\...
Look for "Allow AutoPlay" and set the value to 0.

If you cannot fix it that way, try to go into System Configuration and disable any Cyberlink startup entries.

No, none of that worked. Its disabled in msconfig and I don't see an option in the registry. I might try reinstalling it.

I usually hold the 'Shift' key down while inserting the DVD (or CD). This should stop the selected player from opening.
