Strange Swap Magic Problem

I've been using Swap Magic without problem for a long time now but this morning I've encountered a strange problem I've been unable to resolve.

I put in the swap magic disc as usual and it takes me to the loading screen. I take out the swap magic disc as usual, but then comes the strange part.

As a place a burned disc into the spindle, the laser attempts to read the disc before it even touches the spindle hub thus presenting me with an invalid ps2 disc error.

I have no idea why my ps2 is trying to read the discs before they touch the spindle hub, and also without my confirming the disc is in place by hitting 'start program'.

Has anybody else ever experienced this? Have any suggestions?

Is this with the slimline ps2? The magic keys, etc may not be aligned correctly with the sensor switches, which could be the cause of the problem, if you have a slimline make sure the keys are firmly in place, post back.
