i have my own dvd which i want to convert to mpeg file and save it on my pc. i dont wan to convert the whole dvd, just a certain scene and some extras.

1. is it legal in australia to convert your own dvd to your pc? i cant find any information about it. it just say if you make illegal copies and try to sell it or download pirate copies. im talking about a dvd i bought with my own money and just want to save it on my pc.

2. what program can i use that is free at least 10 days or something trial? like the full features for a trial period.

i've tried aimersoft dvd ripper which has the trial version but has the watermark

3. can somebody please give a step by step guide to how to acheive it?

Use MPG2Cut to open the movie title (usually VTS_01_1.VOB)
Move the slider to the start of the clip and and set the start with the left bracket, then to the end of the clip and the right bracket.
