Writing the independance exploit to my memory card?

Hi, so I've been doing some research and discovered that it might be possible to launch homebrew without swap magic or a mod chip, or a cheat device

Basically, what people have said is that you can put in a psone game and use the swap method (swap card and all that) to basically use the psone game as swap magic, I was wondering a few things

1) Can this indeed work

2) If so, what do I need to do exactly

3) How will I go about using ulauch.elf, other homebrews, and my ps1/2 backups after this

4) If I do need to buy something, is there anything I could buy in the US (specifically in North Carolina)

Sorry to bombard you guys with questions, I'll explain more if needed, thanks in advance for any help
