Hi all,

I just bought a used PS2 and it seems the full screen of the TV is not getting filled by the picture. The bottom part (say 25 %) is not getting covered by the picture. I have set the setting to full. What could be wrong?

Thnks

Its a NTSC J console. I have a small 15" TV. Could this be compatibility issue?

I'm not sure, don't know anything about Jap consoles.
All i can say is experiment with other games settings on the PS2 or your TV.
My guess is that the tv-screen setting on your PS2 is the issue.
Try also RGB versus composite cabel.

Ok here's an update...

I got some games with the console. The thing is all games except one game is giving problems. The thing is, most of the games are not being played in full screen mode, i.e, a little bit portion of the bottom of the screen is not being covered by the picture. Only 1 game - cricket 2007 covers the entire area of the screen. This game gives me the option to chose between PAL and NTSC at the begining of the game.

Could this be a PAL/NTSC issue? On the other hand, I have another PAL game (or so it is written on the disc) - NFS UG and this game also does not cover the entire scree.

What's an RGB cable and where can I get one? The cable which came with the console is an AV cable

Thanks

It is a scart cable that has 3 connectors inside that are used for the image instead of one for composite.
Beware that some scart cables are only using composit signals.
Make sure it is an RGB scart.
Th image will be more stable and sharper but on a small screen you won't notice that much.
You can also use a component cable if your screen has connectors for this.
It uses 3 cables for the image (red, green, blue) an 2 for sound.
But make sure it are cables for the PS2 and not just any cables that are used for dvd players and etc, ...
