I have access to both and want the saves to be compatible with the r4 anyone use a good program for this? I know there used to be one that was all in japenese i used to use but i dont remember what it was called

Well, I can't help you with a slot 2 device but I did come across this guide for backing up saves on a slot 1 and it worked pretty well for me.
