I used to burn/copy DVDs with XP just by using DVD Decrypt, DVD Shrink and Nero. When I bought a new PC with Vista and tried to do the same process, all seemed to work fine but when I try to play the copied DVD onto my DVD player, it doesnt play....but it plays in my PC!

What am i doing wrong?

Dvd shrink needs to be run under the compatability mode to work on vista. There are a couple threads dedicated to using shrink with vista. Depending on which version of nero you have, it may not work with shrink.

Try and use imgburn, one of the best burners hands down....and it's free too.

Dvd Decrypter is outdated and won't be able to crack all newer encryptions. Update your ripper to DvdFab Hd Decrypter (freeware) from http://dvdfab.com.

I agree completely with RTM27 on Imgburn. Also freeware, available at http://imgburn.com.

Dvd Shrink and Nero 8 (and above) are no longer compatible. Although, you can still output to ISO and burn manually. I still put my vote in Imgburn.

For a little more info, links, and guides see either link in my sig.

No you cannot play Blu Ray on a normal standalone (or VHS combo) player.

If you have the right tools, you can can backup on Blu Ray on a standard single layer (4.7) blank.
