I have a slim version of playstation 2 (PAL version SCPH-7704) which I bought couple of months back. Uptil now I have been playing it on a TV but yesterday tried to connect it to my old Samsung SyncMaster 750s CRT monitor I ran into few problems. First let me tell you how I did that, I have this tv tuner card/VGA box that I have been using to watch tv cable on the monitor. It has MMI-C input and a VGA monitor output (so I have all the cables/things you would need to get ps2 connected to a monitor). When I turn on PS2 (no game inserted) and monitor, the initial ps2 screen and system browser screen displays as they should have on tv i.e. in full colors and contrast. Here is the problem, when I insert a ps2 game, the in game graphics and colors are not what they appear on a TV. I see a strong green color, red colors appear in green and blue in dark or black. I checked this on God of war and Prince of Persia games. However when I played hitman 2, the color balance and contrast was like on the TV.

Now my playstation can play both NTSC and PAL games on TV which means that it has the mod chip that allows to do exactly that, also my tv supports both NTSC and PAL video. But it seems like it can display only PAL games correctly on my monitor. NTSC games are displayed in strong tint of green. It doesn't appear to be a sync on green issue due to my monitor (or could it be?)

I would really appriciate if someone can throw any light on it. (P.S. yes I know I can play on tv but want to play it off my monitor as it is in my room)
