Try using imgburn to copy it, then burn it using imgburn.

Ok then how about some more details

What Version PS2
What brand of media did you burn it too
What speed did you burn it at.

How do you boot your games, like modchip, Swap Magic?

What exactly happens when you try loading the backup?

Ok , what type of DVD-R disks for ex: are they Sony, Verbatim

Try burning at faster speed.

start with 4x, if no go try 6x or 8x

The speed you burn at depends upon your burner, the type of discs you have whether they be 8x or 16x, and the brand of disc

2.4x is way too slow, 4x is usually the slowest for PS2 backups.

The PS2 laser is picky and most won't read DVD -RW or +RW
Even if it can read it, it is very hard on the laser

Most newer PS2 slim laser can handle write speeds of 8x

I just use the safe zone and write at 4x and have never had a problem yet.
