Hi All,

I'm new to DVD ripping and I am hoping some one can help me with a few questions.

I am trying to rip my DVDs and save them on my PC in the highest quality format with 5.1 sound.

I've built a linux server with 4.5TB to serve the movies over a 1000Gb network.

I'd like to know if and how people are ripping their dvds in it's native resolution with 5.1 audio. And what format they use.

I'd be very curious to know what s/w you use to do the ripping and what you use for playback to get the 5.1 audio.

Thanks in advance!

Mike

Rip the disk using DVDFab HD Decrypter (either the full disk or the main movie).
The full disk gives you all video and audio streams.
The main movie lets you pick the audio/subtitle streams you wish to keep.
You also have the option of ripping the files to a folder or an .iso image file.

Hi,

I was also facing problem of converting .AVI files with channel 2 Audio in DVD with with 5.1 audio encoding, but i found the solution for this problem using XILISOFT HD VIDEO CONVERTER 5.1.17 version.

It actually converts the .AVI Files to DVD files(.VOB) with 5.1 AUDIO and many more.. it really a good software.

Another noob question. Is it better to rip to a folder file or to an ISO file format if my playback software is PowerDVD Ultra? PowerDVD plays back BluRay disc fine when I have one in the drive but if I am trying to play it back from a ripped movie on my HDD I can't figure out how to play it.
Thanks.
