I've tried just about everything I could to get MeGUI to work. I've reinstalled it countless times, updated, didn't update; I've tried about every combination of settings I could think of.

It just hangs at preprocessing, no errors or anything. I've left it for upwards of an hour and it didn't change status.

Is there any other method to make the conversion (.ac3 to .aac)?I've searched the forums and didn't find any helpful topics.

Alternatively, does anyone know what might be wrong with MeGUI?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I think you can convert ac3 to aac using VLC.
Run VLC, then 'File'> 'Wizard' > 'Transcode/Save to File'
Choose/Browse the ac3 stream > 'OK' > 'Next' > Check the 'Transcode Audio' button and select 'mpeg4 audio' > Bitrate 256 > Next > Next and give the new file a full name including the extension (ac32aac.aac).

Note that if you have VLC player set to repeat, it has to be reset to play once - else it transcodes repeatedly, overwriting the output.

LameXP will also convert to aac - but the Nero Encoder must be downloaded separately.

Thank you for the reply!

Is there anyway to down convert the number of channels in LameXP? The only option I saw for it said it was used for MP3s.

I tried converting using VLC and it gave me an error and killed the program.

Right now it isn't that large of a problem. When I made the topic I forgot that the original audio file was a .dts, and I could only find a way to convert that to .ac3 (I had spent a long time looking for ac3 to aac).

When I saw that LameXP could convert .dts to other things, I decided to try that instead. The .ac3 I made was down converted to 2 channels, so I'm currently converting that to .aac.

If its possible, however, it would be great to use the original audio file instead!

Thanks again for you're help! I really appreciate it!

AVIDeMux handles both AC3 and AAC too.

If it's a case of converting DTS to stereo, TranzcodeGUI will convert DTS to a stereo WAV file that can be converted to AAC using LameXP.
