I need to find a way to do this. I already have a tv tuner installed in my comp but I want to know what the best software there is to do what I'm trying to do.

Here's the deal. I have this feeling that my neighbor is blowing his leaves across the street to my yard when he's done cutting his. I truly believe it's him because sometimes when I come home from work I see a crap load of leaves on my yard and his is really clean.

I want to set my camcorder to record out my window while I'm out so that when this happens again I can go back and look on my comp and see what happened so that I can bring it to his attention.

I recently upgraded my comp to vista(don't ask me why, lol) so I don't have the software for my tv tuner. What is the best software for what I'm trying to do? Thanks for any advice fellas. I would like to do this as soon as possible so that I can ready it before he needs to clean his yard again.

Sorry if I'm being to repetitive or if my spelling/vocabulary sucks but I just deank a few cold ones

Firstly, as evidence to prove a 'crime- civil or criminal', are you in a country where it is legal to use, as proof, CCTV footage that has been obtained without the person being aware that they are being filmed?
Don't claim Freedom of the Press!!
And beware, as your neighbour is the 'STAR' of your intended movie, you might find that you need to get them to sign what is known as a 'release note'; that gives you the copyright to your images of the filmed person/thing- you could be sued for damages, charged a fee for their services, or as you put it,as yet unproven, dis-services.

If you are, then it would be helpful to know what sort of Camcorder you have, Make and model.

I presume you intend to use your computer's hard drive instead of the half hour or one hour Tape that usually fit into Camcorders. They won't capture the full day, will they.
Have you the cable that connects your camcorder's DV out to your computer?
Do you have enough free space on your coms HDD? Camcorders use a lot of MB's, GB's.
Has your graphics card got a DVI input?
Do you have a stand alone VCR, one that you can connect your camcorder to?
What's wrong with Movie Maker? Has Vista got that? Have you got the drivers for your camcorder to run in Vista?
You wanna make a movie?...try NCH ( it's free)

Or you could simply put your camera on its tripod, set it up inside your house pointing at your front yard,in full show from the street and hoist a "CCTV SURVIELLANCE IN OPERATION" sign for all to see.
Don't be Hoist by your own petard.
