The first thing you should know is that the video that you've just reencoded is at most likely more than double the resolution of the original AVI. This is all perfectly normal.
Another thing is that TMPGEnc makes a video stream, and an audio stream out of the original. You then need to muxify these two using a dvd author proggie of your choise, mine's dvd labs.
It will merge them together whilst it's creating the dvd menus, structure etc.
If you have any questions just ask.

thx for replying
but i've done this b4 with another AVI file, it transferred perfectly.
so i don't really understand what's wrong with this one.
You said to muxify, so do i do that afterward when i got the MPG file (with has double of the time of the original file)or to the AVI file.
thx

Does this AVI file have AC3 sound? Even if iy doesn't you might want to separate the audio file from the AVI and then encode the video and burn together when finished. Just an idea.

One more thing as far as the "demux" you two were talking about. Avidemux is also a helpful tool when dealing with almost any type of editing. Might be worth a look. Find it here :http://avidemux.sourceforge.net/

Sorry, posted too soon. If AC3 isn't stated in that particular section then you probably don't have it. It must be showing something like MPEG-4 etc.

Sorry, there's so much software available for different things you're probably still spinning, huh??! Here's what you'll do ....
Open VirtualDub/Click on file and choose new file
Choose the video file you're working with. You should now see to small "black" windows. Click on streams/streams list. Another window opens and shows the audio stream/file associated with the AVI file in use. Double click on the file shown and then click on Demux. Save the file to a known area. After this is finished, you can now use TMPGEnc to convert. When you're ready to burn you will need to add the file that had been saved to the MPEG files being burned.

Look through the guides to be sure as far as the joining of the files, but I'm fairly certain I gave it straight.

sorry i'm still kinda confuse
so now i have the mp3 file of the AVI file.
the problem is that i would need to insert a audio file if i want to convert AVI to MPG, but if i add in the original AVI file's audio i would have the problem that i'm talking about which is that the time of MPG file would be double of AVI file(about 118 min), so what do i then.
And just to make sure, u when u said to add in the mp3 file into mpg file u meant to look at the section joining uncompress audio to compressed video right.
PS i'm not sure why, but for example, if i use the the AVI i'm working on as video but instead of the original audio AVI file, i put in a different AVI file's audio, the time will be normal(which is about 59min)

Hi
I have a "new" question . What ,if i have 2 avi´s with AC3 (the same AVI in two parts) and whant to burn it into 1 DVD ? i can Demux the AC3 sound and make the dvd with 1 AVI .But i dont know how to do it with 2 .My dvd author has an option to insert the mpeg, the AC3 file and the subtitle file ,but i don´t know if it can separate the diferent AC3 and subtitles for the right AVI file . Do i have to join the them before the Demux?
