I would like to know what is the easiest and most versitile program that can help with making duplicates of DVD's that already own. It seems that my kids love their Sesame Street DVD's so much that they make coasters and frisbees with them. I have a DVD +/- R/RW drive, but I'm not sure which software would be the most appropriate.

I also have a Macbook that is in need of the same type of software, so anyone with any info ragarding these two platforms, please help.

Again, all I want to do is make a duplicate of the original on a DVD+R disc. Thanks

PS

If there is a "afterdawn" moderator around. please email me regarding my login and password to this site. I am having trouble with my account and would like to speak to someone regarding it.

OK, this is just one solution, for PC only.

There are lots of people that like the "freeware" way of doing things, and you are bound to get lots of suggestions on how to do it that way.

In the "old days" (pre-single parent with a 7 yr. old) I would have done it that way as well. In fact, I did do it that way before . . . .

However, my time became scarcer and more precious and I needed the simplest solution possible.

I chose AnyDVD and CloneDVD. Yes, I paid for it, but let me tell you. . .

1)I never ran into anything that I couldn't back up.
2)There isn't anything that I've found that's simpler for "making disposable backups for the kids.

Now I will step aside and let the freeware advocates have their say.

I was thinking of going that route. In fact I think I"ve narrowed the options to either AnyDVD / CloneDVD, or the newest NERO. I wasn't sure which scenario would be the best, But I was planning on buying the programs just because I don't want to go through the time and hassle of "finding" a hacked version of these programs.

So what does anyone have any opinion about NERO?

AnyDVD and CloneDVD is a good and trusted method. My opinion about NERO? The newer versions are bloated. Imgburn is a freeware burner, and a better burn engine IMO. The only thing Nero has over Imgburn is multisession burning.

What about for the Mac? I've been playing with the macbook and I honestly like the way the engine is designed. I think it feels and looks friendlier and more stable than xp or Vista IMO. however, I can understand and relate to some people who are against the Mac.

What about converting files from one format to another? I found a few movies online that I would like to burn to a DVD so I can play it on my DVD player at home, but I'm not sure what program can convert it properly.

I'm looking for software that can convert them on both platforms.

If I use DVDFab, do I have ot use VideoFab? If I decide to purchase DVDFab, will I get Videofab? And more importantly, which one converts .avi files to a readable dvd player file? If the answer is in another post/bilboard, please paste the link.

One more question if I may, would it be worth it to purchase both DVDFab suite and the AnyDVD/CloneDVD suite, or is that redundant?
