I have a 700mb .avi file. I tried using NeroVision[nero8] to make VCD, the problem is, the size of the 700mb .avi file increases to 800mb+ and doesn't fit in the 703mb Cd-r.
Can anybody please explain and provide the solution? Im new...
Thank you.
The vcd uses a fixed bitrate and the amount of
data (MB) of the vcd is directly related to the running time
(in minutes) of the source, rather than the fact that it's
700MB.
How about converting it over two cd's? Another solution is to use
the free version of Tmpgenc 2.5 and use the KVCD templates,
which extend the minutes allowed (by using a variable bitrate format).
If your video has any intro or credits, trimming the ends might also save you a few mb. If not, you can split the AVI in two and make 2 VCDs with Nero. You can also buy a 800 mb blank CD.
Well the the vcd is a fixed bitrate and I think it works out
you can get approx 79 minutes of the movie on one CD.
It writes in mode 2, so approx 790 MB.
The OP doesn't say whether his standalone will play the avi file
directly.
