I just bought a card from realhotdeals.com because that is a site the guide in this forum listed as a good place to buy them

This is the one I bought. http://www.realhotstuff.com/real-kingsto...ndle-p-371.html

However I also read on this forum about these cards not working, or needing to be mod'd because they don't fit the slot? And that many of them are counterfeit??

How do I know this card is legit when I receive it later this week? A friend recomended this card to me, he has used one for awhile, and never had any problems that is why I decided to get one.

Also, on a side note can someone explain to me about how GBA games work? Do you need that GBA slot memory thing? What happens if you don't have it? Can you still play GBA games? What exactly does it let you do?

Like I Said I know nothing about this stuff really.

Just to make sure. All I need is the M3DS Real card to play my backed up DS games right? I can play them just like a normal DS cart? It will let me save all my games just by saving in game right?

Thanks in advance

Oh and I almost forgot. What is the difference between a "clean rom" and "patched rom"? And how can you tell which yours are?

And lastly, is the DS capable of doing quality NES/SNES emulation? What is needed for that? I found an emulator called EMUsnesDS or something, but I don't quite understand how it works on your M3real

You need a slot 2 device to play GBA games, for the m3 real make sure it says www.m3adapter.com on the front, other than that look at the tutorial on youtube

Can you use an M3 Real card while you have a GBA game in the slot? I usually keep FF6 in my GBA slot while playing.

Also the M3 Real can play all DS games right? Plays them just like my regular cart would play them?

Ok, I'm going to try to answer your questions in order, since there are alot of them.

Some people do have problems with the M3 Real being slightly too thin and not fitting tightly in the DS slot. The fix for this is pretty easy though, just take a piece of thick paper and slide it between the cart and the back of the DS to make it fit snugly.

As smacko said, a real M3 Real will say www.m3adapter.com on it. If it says something different then it's likely a fake.

GBA games will play as normal. GBA roms require a slot2 ram expansion cart. The roms go on the M3 Real and when you start them they load into the slot2 device where they play just like a normal GBA game.

Saving works as normal and you don't need any additional hardware except a microSD card.

Clean roms are unedited roms. If you copy one of your DS games it will be clean, and nearly all DS games you download will clean as well. Patched roms were required for some old flashcarts and are not really used anymore.

There are emulators like the SNES one you found. They are a .nds file like DS roms and you start them just like a standard DS rom. Once they start they let you browse the flashcart's memory looking for the appropriate roms. You then choose and load one. That said though, emulation on the DS is iffy. Some games work pretty well, others do not run at full speed or lack sound.

The M3 real plays all DS games and they play and save exactly like official carts, just with some extra features like real time save and action replay cheat code function. There are a few games that do have some problems caused by various microSD cards. If the card does not have fast enough access speeds then some games will lag or crash. But this is not an M3 problem and applies to all flashcarts that use microSD's.

Thanks man I appreciate it. Does the card that is coming with my M3 have enough speed for all the current DS games?

You want class 6 or higher speed. Formatting it with the panasonic SD formatter program helps a bit too. Even slower cards can run 99% of games though. The only ones I know that need more speed are the castlevaina games and the world ends with you. I'm sure there are a few more that I dont know of.

How will I know if the card that comes with my M3 Real from the deal I posted is fast enough to run the castlevania games?

Just try it out, it won't harm the DS, usually the video in cutscenes just gets garbled. Penguin98 answered most of your questions, but he is not completely accurate. When you download a SNES or NES game (which are very hard to find, look for the vault) the SNES game is a .smc and the NES game is a .nes. Now, you must have an emulator to play these. For SNES I recommend SneMulDS and for NES I recommend NESDS.

Fake cards generally have something similare to www.adaptese.com or m3 adaptese.com or something on them
Download Snemulds
Here
Download NESDS here unless you find a more updated one.

Hope this helps!
