Hi,

I have the original DS. Yesterday I turned on the DS and it went to the Nintendo screen. I turned it off to change the game, but it wouldn't turn on anymore. I thought the battery was dead. I went home to charge the DS. The orange charge light goes on for 1 second and turns off. It seems to not be charging. I left it plugged in to the AC to charge it. It's been like 14hours the DS still won't turn on.

Do you think it is the Fuse problem or the battery? I have been reading the stuff online. I tried a different ac adaptor, same problem.

Does anyone have the instructions to take apart the Original DS and the location of the fuses. Can I bridge the blown fuse instead of buying a fuse? Do you think it is the fuse? I'm totally stuck.

Thanks in Advance.

Could be fuse F2, this is the main sytem fuse, if you take the motherboard out, put it in front of you with the NDS (Slot 1) at the top. The fuse is on the right hand side of the slot, about 3/4 of the way down, it is tiny but labled on the board as F2, use a mulitmeter to see if its blown, if it is, then I would say replace it, you can bridge to test but if you leave it that way you may end up with a pocket of molten plastic. It has blown for a reason!

Check your slot as a pin may have bent - shorting out (do this BEFORE you are tempted to bridge the fuse!)

If it turns out it has blown, you can usually get really cheap replacement parts on eBay. Although whether it would blow a new one remains to be seen! I presume it's no longer under warranty? I know it's a silly question, but always worth checking.
