Hi,

I have to date used DVDdecrypter, DVDrebuilder, and CCE to make my DVD5's.

DVDdecrypter is no longer working on many DVD's, must be better protection, some don't rip, and some don't Rebuild any more. Basically a lot of things are now junk.

I think I need a new ripper. I did a search in the Guides section but could not find anything.

Could someone suggest a new ripper, and a guide for it, and anything else I need. I still want to use DVDrebuilder and CCE as I am thrilled with the quality they offer, so I need a system that works with them.

Thanks.

..plus you might want to try the awesome (and free) HC Encoder with DVD Rebuilder, it's up to version 0.23. I use Rebuilder for 99% of movies and all episodics and i only use HC these days.

Top 2 rippers are anydvd (21 day trial/payware) and dvdfab (free version and 30 day trial with gold/platinum versions).

I have been ripping my whole DVD collection recently and I'm finding the same troubles that you mentioned.

DVD producers are using all sorts of trickery and nonconforming techniques to make ripping efforts fail.

Before purchasing alternate software, there are a number of tricks that I've found useful to overcome rip failures with DVD Decrypter.

1. Try using the stream processing method and "demux" option to generate separate M2V and AC3 files.

2. In IFO mode, try using a different file splitting setting.

3. If you split your files into small parts in IFO mode, you can narrow down the particular chapter and cell where the error is happening. Sometimes there are invalid cells which need to be unchecked.

4. Use DVDFab Decrypter FREE version, process the main movie and then click on the "check mark" button at the top of the window. This will inform you about fake VTS and invalid cells etc. You can then go back to DVD Decrypter and select the good VTS and uncheck the bad cells.

I'm finding that even the pros who write the software are having trouble with all the complexities of today's digital video and for that reason, there's no ripping or encoding app that doesn't have problems of one sort or another.

You need to have several different applications in your arsenal. When one application fails, another one will often work. For example, although I regret spending money purchasing Movavi Video Converter, I find that I can use it to fix a VOB generated by DVD Decrypter by converting it to an mpeg2 file and using the "video same as input" option. I have had success in fixing time errors this way.
