How do I crop the picture of a DVD movie/VOB files? I want to crop the top and bottom parts of the picture.
Ideally, I want to simply recode the DVD title with the picture cropped, keeping all audio tracks, subtitles...
I have searched and searched but have not been able to find anything that can do what I want. I can find numerous apps that will crop the picture from a DVD, but it all ends up with avi or something non-DVD, and this is not my goal.
I'm frankly stunned that there apparently is no simple app to do this in one go, kind of like a DVD Shrink with this option.
Any help would be appreciated. I don't care how many steps or apps it will take, as longs as it is possible to do without quality loss and retaining the audio tracks and subtitles.
Background:
I have some DVDs where the movie is widescreen, and the pictue is 4:3 letterboxed (4:3 picture containing widescreen - with black bars top and bottom).
On my 16:9 TV, I have it set to display the ~~native~~ signal without any stretching or zoom.
You can probably see what my problem is now - the 4:3 signal is displayed unstretched on my 16:9 TV, and since the 4:3 contains a letterboxed picture, I have black bars ON ALL 4 EDGES.
Changing the setting on the TV to stretch or otherwise display the signal in something non-native format is NOT an option for me, I get green spots all over whenever I see a strecthed or corrupt picture.
Normally, this is no problem because most DVDs use the actual picture format (such as 16:9).
