IS their any way to get this drive to record a -rw. Currently it can only do -r and -ram. Maybe a upgrade or something?

Being an older 1x recorder this would be a good drive for converting to a region free drive which will play any dvd rom from any region, is there a hacked firmware that will do the trick.

I have an other question, will smartripper access and rip a region 4 pal DVD rom movie on a region 1 DVD rom drive or does the DVD rom drive have to be region 4 for the DVD rom drive to even be able to access the region 4 DVD rom movie.

I hope this makes sense

My dad has the same burner and his doesnt do RW and there isnt probly a way to do it. Also you could try DVD+R not RW for fun because his burns to +R to and it doesnt say it does so yaeh
