Ok guys and gals, I am very new at this, what I am trying to do is make a copy of a DVD using my CDwr drive. I am trying to use this guide http://www.dvd2dvdr.com/part_i.htm to go by(I beleive this one is for what I want). This guide uses Smartripper, Spruceup, and Prassi's Primo( I have Nero). It seems that when I try to rip the DVD onto my HD I should end up with an M2V file and an AC3 file...but I don't... I get a bunch of VOB files and IFX and D2V. What am I not doing or doing wrong to not get the M2V file? I have tried a few differant guides and the only thing I have ever gotten out of it that was viewable was an MPEG of the movie which works great for watching on my PC but I am trying to make it work with my DVD player. I have a Philips 701 which I understand to be compatible with copied DVD's so as far as I can tell, it is feasable. Someone PLEASE help me.

if you have a CD-RW drive, you should not be following the guide you were referencing, that is for creating copies of DVD's using a DVD-RW drive. Instead, try following the guides that allow you to create an SVCD compatible image file and burn it using Nero.

SVCD's are very high quality, and in some cases almost DVD quality.. Usually, your movies will fit on 2 CD's.

Good luck!

Oh yeah, and by the way your DVD player is compatible with SVCD and VCD's, as well as CD-R, CDR-W, and DVD-R discs.. not that you can use DVD-R discs with your CD-RW drive. Check out this link about your DVD:

good luck again..

Cool, thanks for the help VCDJunkie, I'll try that link and see what happens. I didn't realize that my player did SVCD also so that was another help. Thanks again
