I am trying to copy an audio book from my computer to cd to listen to in my car cd player, however the file is too big to fit on cd. 3 questions:

1. What is the best format to copy this in (Car does not play mp3)
2. Can I compress file to fit on 1 CD or how can I split it to copy to multiple cds
3. Can I add tracks to cd to easily find a place on the cd and if so how can I do this.

I am using Nero 9.0 to do this.

Thanks

I darrell,

I am assuming that your audio book is in mp3 format. to accurately answer your questions, I need to know how long the audio book is. but in answer to your questions,

1 - if you car stereo does not play mp3s, then there is only one format you can use, which is the standard uncompressed audio-CD format

2 - as said above, no, your car stereo will only play uncompressed audio CDs which hold 80 minutes of audio

3 - yes, you can take a single long mp3 file and chop it up.

as I said above, how long is the single mp3 file? that really depends on what you can do.

For the best quality mp3s use EAC (exact audio copy) to rip your audio CDs and LAME to encode them. Follow this guide:

Long is measured in minutes.

This will split an audio file using a cue file for the spit times.

This is a great piece of software. You just need to make a cue file that contains the start and stop times for the various pieces. This is probably the least involved method to split an audio file. It sure beats using an audio editor.
