This is more of a newbie question. There could be a whole slew of things involved here. You should spend some time reading the guides for what ever software you are using and you need to post way more info about your computer's configuration and tecniques.

1] Try them in your computer
2] Try them in another DVD player...neighbor or friend
3] Your burner and +R Media are probably ok
4] Use DVD Shrink to re-author, select Main Movie only
5] Use Nero 6.x or your favorite gen-u-ine DVD burning tool

What kind/brand of DVD player do you have?

NEC-2500A - Sony DVD-ROM
WinXP Pro w/ SP2, DVD Shrink - DVD Decrypter - Nero 7.x - CloneDVD2 & AnyDVD - DVD Fab - RipIt4Me

Burning with Nero 6.x is fairly simple. I avoid using the Wizard. Chose DVD recorder. Open a New project under File. Select DVD-Video. Label your disc if you want. Click Next. Click on the Red VIDEO_TS folder in the left-most window to clear the Compilation widow. Navigate to the folder you saved your Shrink backup files in. Select All and drag them to the compilation window. Click on Recorder, select Burn Compilation. Select the speed you want to burn at and cick Burn.

luck-

Hi, thanks for your help. After i select dvd, and DVD Video, i don't know what am is supposed to select where it saids "file name lenght", i don't know if i have to select "ISO level 1" or "ISO level 2."
Does anybody know if this could be the problem?

I have burned 17 dvd's already. They work on my PlayStation2 and they work on my uncle's dvd player, but they does not work on 2 friends' dvd players and my living room dvd player.
I watched about 4 or 5 movies in my living room dvd player, and they worked excelent but when i tried to watch them again, they did not work good, they got stuck.
Thanks for your help!!!!!!!!!

Don't change anything there - leave it as is: ISO Level 1 and ISO 9662. Click the Label button and name it. Click on Open. Click on the red VIDEO_TS folder icon in the leftmost window. Open your file folder in the Browser window. Select all. Drag them to the compilation window. Cick Recorder and Burn Compilation. Click on Burn.

You need more RAM, at least 512 to make things work smoothly. There are compatibility issues with media/software/standalone players (I have a Pioneer & a Toshiba) This is an unfortunate trait of the DVD burning experience. Whether these issues will ever be sorted is very doubtful (Sorry for being so cynical) There has to be a will of ALL the manufacturers to fix these compatibility problems. I recommend 2 standalones, experiment with RW media. Buying cheap in my experience is not too clever. I use Packard Bell +RW with a 100% hit rate. Have you got the latest firmware updates for your Sony burner. My DRU510A Sony is up to the F drivers. These seem to work better each time. Check out the Sony website for updates. Hope this helps.

I don't know about not using cheap media. I've been using Arita reds at about 39 cents apiece and haven't had one bad burn out of 20 I've done so far. everything plays flawlessly on my (relatively) ancient Sony and my newer (cheapo) Artek standalones using Sony DRU510A burner and Nero.

ogryzek, interesting article, thanks. I'm using the red Riteks with white bands. I wouldn't begint to think of them as archival quality, i.e. for home movies, but they're good enough for copying (legal of course, lol) movies. Cheap as dirt and probably about as durable, but. no visible flaws, and solid performance so far.

Most DVD Players do not support DVD+R. +R is the worst you can get go with -R. all dvd players support -R

To backup movies I now use DVDshrink 3.1.7.6 and allow DVDdecrypter to automatically burn the image.

My movies now play on a much broader number of players. My earlier burns would not read on DVDroms and some players.

The article about Ritek said nothing bad about Ritek branded disks. Just the unbranded ones.
