R4 SDHC help appreciated

I recently purchased this card from dealextreme.

On receiving it I inserted it and a SanDisk 2GB MicroSD Card into the DS as instructed along with latest software.

When switched on the message "? Menu" inside a card shaped box comes up on the top screen. Nothing I do makes it go away.

If I turn the DS off and take out the SD card then switch back on the message "Card" appears in the card shaped box in the top screen.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Read the other forums on here - all about R4's - loading issues

I am afraid that R4 is a very poor choice, the only assistance most can give is to try the different firmware options, the site in my signature hosts them all, make sure the SD is correctly in the card and directly extract to firmware onto the card.

Other than that your best hope is to find the main topic on this page and contact a guy named Pugwash - he seems to get most (but not all) working

The problem is that the R4 was (18 months ago ) the card to have. Then the team disbanded and no more updates ahve been issued.

Since then 22 other cards have come on to the market to cash in on that good name

Other cards

Cyclo DS - the daddy of all cards (with a price to match) this card is updated very frequently and is regarded as number 1 on most forums.

M3Real - (make sure you get the real one - the fakes have something OTHER than www.adapter.com on the box)with the new firmware Sakura it is regarded as number 2 on most forums.

DSTT - Very cheap but long overdue a firmware update - due to the high number of fakes around this could be soon on its way out

R4 - just avoid the lot, all fakes most cr*p

AceKard - good all rounder most tell of good experience

EZ Flash - again a reasonable card with good compatability

U2, N5 U1 are all R4 clones - avoid

hey ya i have the same problem im trying to find this pugwash guy but he hard to track... if you get a hold of him let me no or if you figured out how to fix it .. it will be very much appreciated
