For splitting DivX files larger dan 700 MB I use Virtualdub according to the "Split AVI files with VirtualDub". However when I split DIRECTLY in the middle using the keyframes The first file is way to small! On a file of 1400 MB I get one 500 MB and another 900 MB file... I can fix it by trying to do the spliting by trail and error however this takes some time. Anybody know what I do wrong?

As you're using DivX and VBR encoding, each frame uses different amount of data on it, depending on its "complexity". To understand this totally, you need to understand how VBR and CBR encoding work:

Yeah oke, so if I used Constant Bitrate it would work...

Does using VBR instead of CBR have any influence on the movie (quality, speed etc.)?

np. Best way to split it is simply trial and error to achieve equal size clips.
