Ok, I have an LU65 4.0u Wii with the Homebrew channel. I went through so many guides, I honestly can't remember which one finally worked for me to get the channel.
I would like to be able to play back up games, but I'm totally lost on what to do next. In the homebrew menu, it shows 1.0.3 IOS61 v19.26.
I don't believe I downgraded but like I said I'm lost. I'm terrified of bricking the damn thing so if anyone has some help they could offer me before I lose my mind, that would be great.

well i am surprised you did that but methinks the biggest deal now would be getting preloader installed...but if you have the homebrew channel you are supposed to have that already...from preloader you can do anything else you need done...you also need wad manager installed into the homebrew channel...do you?
I actually just found a wad manager about an hour ago. i'm testing out wiiware wads right now and they are working great. i'm just not sure if i can play back up games or not lol. I've seen a backup loader channel, but I'm not sure sure if that's what I need.

check out yafaze and gbatemp i was lost at first modding my wii but this site and those were a great help....i am impressed you did it been reading about ur little dilemna...may just want to wait till rev 14 hits i am a little confused if you can even run backups (lol i bet that is how you feel) but if you can't you will be soon i believe....keep reading i know alot of stuff is changing and being updated....
As far as how to boot backups i use launchers either from the homebrew channel or system menu..using neogamma or gamma or gamecube backup launcher if i am playing a gamecube backup...i personally dont use usb external hd loaders but that is also an option...i dont use the actual wii disc channel but i guess there is a way to unlock that as well...have fun!
If you're having no problem installing wiiware .wads you should be fine to go ahead and install a backup channel or usb loader. I recommend USB Loader GX found here. It allows you to boot wii .iso directly from a usb drive and backup games directly to usb drive. You might also need cIOS38rev13b installed which can be found at that link, both are installed with wad manager.
Forgot to add, if you do decide to go with a USB Loader you will need WBFS Manager found here.
ok,i was able to install and run the backup loader channel. But I would rather have the usb loader.
From what I'm understanding, I would be able to plug in an external usb hard drive directly to the wii and run games off of that. Is that right?
I've looked at that usb link you gave me and I'm havin' a brain fart. I guess I need simpler instructions for me to follow. Again, i've tried searching for directions but haven't found any that aren't confusing.
Hypnotoad..How did the USB loader turn out for you? I'm going to waste away my weekend on my LU65 3.4U (probably update it to 4.0 just because) and I just want to know there is light at the end of the tunnel haha. If you remember any specifics of what methods/guides/software you used, that'd be very helpful.
I actually never got the usb loader to work. The backup channels work fine. I think I'm going to need to set aside a weekend to work on it again. i'm very impatient.
