There'll be a tut somwhere that'll tell you how to convert em to MP3,as for playing any file VLC or k-lite std or xbmc for windows,using k-litec you can select wmp as the GUI & it will play them fine
I almost forgot to tell you that your title is not descriptive I would not be surprised if a moderator doesn't zap you some how.
If they were flac I would suggest converting them. Flac files are lossless lossless converts cleanly to what ever. Oggs are lossy and the equivelent to an mp3 in that they can have constant bit rate or different variable bit rate formats.
You will lose quality during the conversion. Often it is enough that you can hear the difference. To reduce that loss you would need to match the bit rate and mode to a target mp3. That is pretty advanced. I would not do it if I were you.
Most good audio managers and mp3 players will play oggs. itunes, WMP (Windows Media Player), Zune and ipods with use itune do not play oggs.
I suggest you pay more attention to what you are downloading.
I found WMP sucks for music in general. Flac files are awesome and I play them on a program called foobar2000. It's not flashy, but it is very custamizable, quick, and plays everything well. I leave it docked on the right side of my screen and changed the colors to green font on a black background. It's awesome, try it!
Just took a look at fubar's homepage,very interesting indeed especially the components you can add as well as extra's from third parties,seems nice 'n lite like vlc certainly gets a thimbs up from me
I assume you are refering to foobar2000. I find it not intuitive at all. Since it has many powerful featurs my favorite Media Monkey lacks mastering it is on my very low priority to do list. MM is the best for managing extremely large audio collections. I will be in the organizational stage for at least another year.
Matt1039, Just to let you know, flac files do not sound better than a HiFi lossy file. Lossless can be used for things a loosy should not be used but listening is not one of them. If you own the CD a flac file serves no purpose. I will say there are few ways to screw up a lossless file and many to screw up a lossy. Still with a tiny bit of know how you can make a a lossy file 10% of your ultra compressed fklac 8 file and will not be able to tell the difference.
I'm still using LAME 3.92 i think. there is a new version, i think its 3.99 but is still in the beta stage and from what i hear has a lot of bugs in it still.
