Hi,

Up until now I have burned audio and mp3 cds with Burn4free with no problems. I have also used express burn. My windows media player is no use as it won't let me put downloaded songs into the player in order to burn them. My problem is now my cds won't burn. I have tried un-installing the burn4free program,rebooting my pc an downloading the new version but the old version just comes back up. I cannot afford to go out and buy a good cd burning system such as Nero. Can anyone please advise me of a good program to use. I would be so grateful!

why can't you use WMP to burn? if you can't afford to purchase a CD burning app, WMP does have built in burning capabilities. it can easily burn mp3s as either an audio CD or a data mp3 CD.

djscoop, there are options in the install to DRM all your non DRMed music. The default is on.

It is probably a bad disk. Yes, a bad disk. By some Verbatum and try again.

Anyone that has burning problems I suggest they use Media Monkey. It is a very full featured WMP. Some persons do not like so many options but most are amazed by the features and the interface. No media monkey has ever posted 'my CD will not burn' since I have been reading this forum. It has quite a few burning options most are quite useful.

MM has no 'security' features. They could care less where you got you music. The only way they make money is if you upgrade to a paid for version. WMP and the notorious itunes make their money by selling music. They will screw you if they think they can get away with it.

wow how lame. i've been a loyal winamp user for ten years now, so thats my main music player.

how would WMP put DRM on mp3s though...i thought they don't have any protection on them

I do not know. What you say is correct. You can not DRM mp3s. I did not select the protect option and never upgraded once they started getting tricky. I do know it does something but have never wanted to invest time as to what it is doing. I had completely forgotten about the feature. It is a non issue for me.

I use it to play formats it can play from File Explorer if MM is not loaded. It loads real fast because it has no library. I could grow old waiting for MM to load. Otherwise, I use MM or Winamp.

When you install from an 'unprotected' version you are presented with check boxes one had the description something like "protect my music".

Winamp is one of the big 3 and is the most popular of the three. I have all 3 but I use Media Monkey the most. It is best for large libraries. I believe it burns disks and syncs the best of the 3. I do not think Winamp burns disks. MM is best for main stream formats. I prefer to use Winamp for Apple and some other formats. It does other things better as well but I don't use those features.

Does nobody read my spyware posts? wmp is the king of spyware... case proved time and time again.. every file you play and every disk you insert it looks for drm and restrictions.. and also shouts out to people like time-warner what you are watching/listening to.. delete the bloody thing NOW .. and use proper players like vlc or xmms.

varnull, no I didn't read your spyware posts. Mine is an many years old old version but I may just have to delete it anyway. Unfortunatly, I think they already know me...

Do you know when they started doing that?
