What kind of burner do you have.
You need to use the latest DVDshrink and let it automatically burn with the latest DVDdecrypter. Turn off burn with Nero in preferences.
This has increased my player compatibility dramatically.

With what you have done it sounds like a burner problem.
What are your computer specs. Check the DMA mode in the hardware manager. If the burner is in pio mode you can get errors as well as a slow down.
When you burn try at 1x speed to see if it helps.

Does the burned disc play on the computer. All the way through?

sorry was away for a few days, I'm running xp pro with an amd athlon xp 1900+ and 256 mb ddr ram, i think it should automatically be in dma mode with xp, also the disks run fine on the pc, i can play +r on the player but i've got a shitload of -r's here and as i've said ones i've got from other people play fine. I've tried burning at 2x and 4x but I'll give 1x a go, the folder contents are navigation, VOB and bup files

The information is usefull.
Open DVDshrink. Go to edit then preferences then output files and make sure every thing is checked including logical remapping of enabled streams.

Then try a rip and burn. If it still doesn't play then your burner is likely the difference. Try flashing to the latest firmware or a different writer.

I have used this setup on a HP200i,Digital research 8x, Toshiba 5112, and an optorite 201.

Hi Donald, well I tried what you said but they still don't work, don't know whether it's the burner cos I took a few round to my mates and tried them there and they worked perfect, and as I've said I know my player plays -r cos I've watched them on it loads of times, maybe its just the disks I use don't play on it so I'll probably stick to +r, anyway I don't think there's anything I can do about it and I really appreciate yours and everybody elses help on this so thanks a lot anyway, you can't win 'em all. Bonkers
p.s what does try flashing to the latest firmware mean?

The firmware is the internal software that is in the device, in this case your DVD burner. Sometimes updating the drive fixes bugs the drive may have.

Since you are unfamiliar with the process you should probably stay away from it. If something goes wrong when flashing you can kill your drive.

Thanks for the info, I DEFINATELY don't want to kill my burner, I've got an awful habit of screwing about with things on my pc that I shouldn't so I'll leave alone.
Thanks again for helping, and I think I'll just stick to +r's (at least I know they work on mine).
