I have a khypermedia dvd+r burner with the same brand disks but I still am getting poor copies with pixelation and pausing in the copied version what steps can I take to eliminate this and or should I buy a more expensive burner?

Lots of reasons.
Do your backups play fine on your computer? Are you even sure your standalone can play backups? Have you tried other (higher quality) brands of media? Have you tried burning at lower speeds?

Try using something better than khypermedia discs. Pixellation and pausing can be caused by poor media.

Media is the key, along with software/firmware/burner/memory/processor. In fact poor quality is the result of many of the above. Saying that though, I have to concur with previous posts & experiment with media.

Oh yes! I have been bogged down of late, lots of stuff to do, can't wait for screaming off at a tangent type conversation! It seems that there is only a few who can keep up with our broad range of topics. Mind you I dont know many people who know much about quarks, neutrinos etc... It's rather like in Hitchhikers when Vrumfondle & Majikthys are debating with Deep Thought and Majikthys says that their minds are too highly developed. Is that me?
Or do I have a superior knowledge complex that is entirely unjustified. I do think that flypaper is the best way to catch neutrinos though.
Have you had any experience with the new burners that will write in dual layer yet? Nice to hear from you & I hope you are well.
P.S.

added info, i have a similiar problem with 2 different dvd players and media. I can burn Memorex and Optidisc at 4x and they both play on a Pioneer player, however with same media and a RCA flatscreen TV/DVD combo i have to burn at 1x to eliminate the pixelation.
its a proven fact that you just have to test different speeds and media for your collection.
