Hiya kalliffen,

It's possible to use DVD Shrink to squeeze the menus and extras more than the main film.

When you're in the main window for Shrink you should find an explorer type list on the left with three folders - Menus, Main Movie and Extras.

When you highlight one of the folders you will notice to the right side under the Compression Settings tab that there is a drop down that should say Automatic.

Click on the drop down and you will see an option for Custom Ratio, select this and you will be able to adjust the amount of compression for that particular folder.

Hope this helps and welcome to AD :)

I have tried that..And it works, but the movie is still to big :(..Can i in some way remove some of the extra material..I tried to "reauthor" with dvdshrink, but then it tells me that the menu won't work...And just in this case i just need to keep the menu..( my kids love that menu, there are some funny jokes)...

Well, the bummer with reauthoring in Shrink is that you will lose the menus.

There is a program called DVD Stripper that, as I understand it, will allow you to remove bits and pieces while keeping the menu intact. I haven't messed around with it yet so I don't personally know how well it works although I hear it is quite good.

Here's a link to instuctions for DVD Stripper:

And here's a trouble shooting forum:

Enjoy :)

It's way past my bedtime but I just got finished playing with DVD Stripper for the last hour and a half and am so thoroughly impressed with it that I had to post!

I ran Final Fantasy through it and was able to remove every single useless feature while keeping all menus intact. Although it's not difficult, it is time consuming and you need to install DVD Decrypter and IFOEdit for it to do it's stuff. The results are very much worth the effort though.

I'm going to keep tinkering with it so if you are still interested in using it let me know and we can both explore this program further :)

Hiya,

I'm using DVD Decrypter v3.2.1.0 and I installed IFOEdit v.95. There's a VBR patch that needs to be installed for Stripper to run correctly here:

http://download.microsoft.com/download/vb60pro/Redist/sp5/WIN98Me/EN-US/VBRun60sp5.exe

Since my previous post, I've done Chicken Run and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Both turned out great by cutting out the fat with Stripper and then, if needed, taking out unwanted audio in DVD Shrink and compressing.

It takes a little time to sift through all the files and correlating which ones go but the results speak for themselves :)
