hi guys. i own a m3simply from years ago. i dont know what all this new stuff is though. i know r4 and m3 are pretty similar, but is one better?

i also noticed some r4's are ~5-6$!!! i bought my m3 simply for around 50$! is there something missing on these things that make it only 5-6? or did technology get better or something. or are these simply the 'clones' that i heard of.

what exactly are r4 clones? are they lower quality, etc, although being much cheaper? how do i tell which is the real item?

thanks

The first thing to remember is that the R4 (and the simply) stopped being updated several years ago now, since then 36 different cards use the R4 name - so just avoid all of them, unless you enjoy a challenge.

Of the others

CycloDs - pretty much universally agreed that it is the best card - it rarely has issues running anything.

M3Real - concidered 2nd place since it launched the Sakura interface

AceKard all these are OK
EZ Flash
Supercard

DSTT - lots and lots of fakes, good homebrew following keeps the current games running but one to approach with care

Edge - no updates for a while - best avoided at the moment
G6 - dead best avoided

Once up and running whatever card you have will be great, hopefully that gives you a bit of an insight

thanks a lot! that really helped.

what constitutes as "best"? i thought all cards should be able to run games. just interface and ease of use, i guess?

When the M3 Real came out - and at other sites it is still this price - it was $35, however as time has gone on and they have released the M3iZero for the Dsi the price has gradually come down.

However the Cyclo has not reduced their prices at all. It is however worth extra but the feeling is not that much extra anymore!

Best cards - some R4's do not get regular (if any upgrades) as they are based on the original R4 they cannot play all the games (Clone Wars) but they do play a majority. it is the setting up and when you order knowing what you are going to get that is the problem, even the suppliers do not always know what they are sending you!

1. The Cyclo is one of only 3 flashcards that can talk to a Wii

2. Built in and integrated cheat system

3. Prompt updates

Just as I sometmes wonder why someone would buy a Rolls or a Bentley . . . (after all, it's just an automobile) people wonder why I "overpaid" for a CycloDS.

The difference in price is negligible (to me) for the addl. value I'm receiving.
