I just got my son the dsi with the acekard2i, the dsi detects the acekard, but when you select it. I get a message "an error has occured. Press and hold the power button to turn system off. please see the nintendo DSI operations manual for help troubleshooting.

I think that while he had the acekard in the dsi, he went online on nintendo. Can it be possible that nintendo did something to the DSI to prevent the acekard from working on his dsi?

most likely he updated the DSi firmware to 1.4 and your acekard 2i is not compatible with it. there is a fix for the acekard if thats the case but you will need a working DS console, DS phat or Lite or DSi 1.3 version. see here for more info http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=174529

I used the firmware 1.5 on acekard.com and got the fix here patch

They say you can use either the DSI or a DS lite to do this. I used a DS lite(was less confusing).
