While i have searched this forum extensively and learned quite a bit from alot of the Afterdawn users here on the forum I have a situation I'd like some specific information on.

I am a DVD collector a Movie Buff down to the bone and frankly an Addict at heart. I have visited my local dvd retailer on New-release tuesday for the last 5 years and have purchased every new release available in that time span. Now I have the issue of I like to go back and watch a DVD and find that digging thru some 18,000 DVD clam cases is not effective or time efficent.

I spent a tremendous amount of time ripping DVD's into VIDEO_TS folders. Now I am ready to encode them to my personal digital Library.

Storage space is not an issue.

I want to know what is the highest quality supported video format for Windows Media Player 11 and what codec will it need to play it? (would like to preserve the best video and audio from standard DVD)

Can I use Handbrake to encode this format and what is the proper settings to acomplish the encoding for the above file format.

Ther is probably a million different video file types and even more individual settings within each so please keep in mind video and audio quality is the primary concern.

Thank you in advance for your answers and guidance.

Haven't used Handbrake but using Any Video Converter or Prism Video Converter (both free) works well for Windows. DivX is probably the most widely used in .avi. It maintains quality of video and audio while compressing the to smaller files to save on a hard drive. Both are very simple to use. Good luck.
