Hello, first off let me say i have found this site to be an enormous help over the last two years, so although i have now registered for help all the work in this site and these threads (encoding etc) is very much appreciated.

Ok my issue:

I am using gordian knot, xvid encode, for ripped dvds. I have used this for two years almost no problems. I decided to "test" autogk, but decided to stick with my old gordian knot. So i removed autogk, now i am assuming that autogk caused the problem (but i may be wrong).

Suddenly all my encodes are too small and no matter how i set them in gk there are too small and hence the quality is awful, no matter how i set this in gk it doesnt change the final result.

I have removed then reinstalled gk, used the option Delete Registry Keys, etc

the log files seem ok, but i am not 100% if i am looking in the right place.

Somewhere down the line my settings are not applied and i dont know where the issue is. Any assistance is accepted.

are you using the 2-pass mode on your encodes? I found that that is the only way to adjust my final size of my video encodes.

Found the issue!!!

I knew I was doing two passes. But it turned out I set first pass (XvidD)
Simple @ L0 (which what i was told - if anyone thinks otherwise please say)

But i had somehow made the second pass

Simple @ L1

Which messed up the encode completely.

Just did a test with both encodes at Simple @ L0, seemed ok.

thanks.
