Hello to all, after altering the "drive speed" and "Nero CD Speed" to a slow writing speed e.g- 2x or 4x, whenever I'm about to burn my disc nero for some reason, only allows me to select a minimum of say 16x and not the desired 2 or 4x ?? Any ideas on how to change please??~ Thanks- *email removed*

I complained about that to their tech suppost. They claimed it was not their problem. It was the fault of either the drive or the operating system. Nero tells you the speed not the other way around. That is when I removed Nero from my computer. There are ample free apps that do it much better than Nero.

I always thought Nero "drive speed" related to the read speed only.
Write speed was selected in the writing app before starting the write.

Usually, info in the disks media ID, specify the allowable speed(s).

Correct, it works to set the read, not write speed, slow the speed down for reading problematic discs, if noisy...

I thought and still do, the query was with a write to disk speed, but I have been wrong on many occasions. Nero will not let you 'overburn', burn below the speed suggested on the media, even if you want to.

Yes, the query was about write to disc speed...We're just saying it cannot be regulated using "Nero Drive Speed" like th OP suggested...

I am using 16x DVD+Rs, Nero 7 will let me burn them using a speed as low as 4X(Nero Burning Rom).

Edit: Most likely it is dependent on the burner/firmware also. I tied on my desktop, and it will let me burn as low as 2.4x(same version of nero).
