Hello!

My first post here. Can anyone help? I am trying to burn a Double Layer disc with my DVD writer. For some reason, Windows is recognizing my DVD+R DL disc as a disc with 31.5gb of free space. Why is this happening? Enclosed is the information i got from ImgBurn:

Why is Windows reading my 8.5gb disc as a 31.5gb one??? All the disc burning software i used refused to burn my disc image on this "31.5gb" disc. I tried to use different brands of DVD+R DL discs and Windows recognized them all as having 31.5gb of free space. I remember burning DL discs before using this same writer and i never had this problem until now.

I already checked my firmware for my dvd writer and it is the most up-to-date one. I even tried to re-flash my dvd writer with the same firmware and it's still not reading the disc right. I've also tried deleting the dvd writer device and Windows and let Windows add back the device automatically after reboot to see if it'll solve the problem. I got the same result. :(

I tried burning a single layer disc and it was fine.

I really can't think of anything else i can do to resolve this. Please help! Thanks!

Assuming you don't have a batch of bad disks (check on another PC) you can try another DL disk - preferably Verbatim DVD+R DL and see if that is recognized
It's up to the burner firmware to recognize the disk and send the correct information to the software.

I did get a Verbatim disc to test on my DVD writer and Windows is still reading it as a disc with 31.5gb of free space. :(

Thanks for your reply! At least now i know it's a likely a firmware issue. I wonder if I should roll back my firmware to an older one and see if it'll work.
