Just for argument's sake, is there a way to convert bittorrent to cd or even dvd? Also how can one combine all the separate files into one so a tool or program could accept it? I'm fairly new to this particular subject, but I'm very curious. Thanks for any info.

Me again, no one willing to volunteer any info? I don't have any of these other problems everyone else seems to be having. AVI to mpeg to dvd, dvd to dvd, vhs to dvd, dvd authoring, NO PROBLEM! I'm new to this bittorrent, just wondering if it's possible or am I spitting in the wind? Am I not observing protocol in this forum or do I just smell bad? ( that's because I've been up all nite, every nite, no time for showers). I've foollowed all suggestions, forum, guides, etc. Maybe it can't be done.......

hi bigorange
You dont smell bad(altho id have to ask your wife that question lol),its just that bit torrent, usually means downloading copy protected material off p2p networks ie. kazaa, bearshare, limewire, suprnova etc.
is considered piracy and not allowed on this forum.
Everyone here gets tired of scolding the noobs for not following the rules,(so that explains why nobody has answered you yet)
We have a very friendly, and helpful forum here,if you go by the rules, anyone, and everyone, would be more than happy to help.
If you can assure us that this is not the case and you dont have copy protected material, then come back, and myself or other will be glad to help you with your problem.
What your are seeking help to do is very simple, and can be done with all freeware.
good luck and welcome to the club
jim

Thank God, there is someone out there! I'm sorry, I thought I was making it clear by stating " just for the sake of arguement." I didn't want to come off like so many others and get reprimanded. I apologize. Let me make this perfectly clear, no piracy here, just want to know how to combine the seperate files and go from bittorrent to whatever to whatever to dvd. Thank you sincerely and I hope I can help someone in the future. It's great to be here. Thanks, jim_dandy Ps- freeware sounds great!

hi bigorange
What you have probably are win rar files.(for the sake of arguement)
You need to download a free, or pay version, of win rar(with the free version you just have to deal with a nag window)the free one suits me just fine.
After that's downloaded. All you have to do is double click the first file on the list, and unzip it to a folder of your choice(i use the folder the files came in)that should make an mpeg 1 or 2, depends on how it was done originally, this should only take a few minutes.
After that is done,if its encoded correctly, and is dvd compliant. Then you need a dvd authoring software, or if you want to put them on vcd's,nero, or whatever, will burn them like they are,if something is done wrong either your burning program or dvd author will give you a error message.
If you do get a error message then you'll have to re-encode using whichever encoder you choose ie.TMPGEnc or mainconcepts or cinema craft etc.
Then if you want it on a cdr, just add to nero, or the burning program of your choice, or if you want it on a dvd, then use the dvd authoring program of your choice.(trial versions available for TMPGEnc dvd author and all the other above mentioned encoders)
If you just want to put it on a cdr then tmpgenc has a free version.
I have the links on my computer to get you there but im not home now.
hope this helps you out
good luck and keep us posted
jim

Hey jim_dandy, no_ I wasn't lost. Sorry I took so long to reply. Gone all weekend, just got back. Thanks so much, I think I can take it from here. If not I'll call you for another installment of basic 101 for dummies. By the way, I would like to return the favor, do you just browse aroud looking for people like me (clueless) or is there a simpler way. I don't know a lot, but I have seen several questions I could have helped someone out with. It's kinda like any P2P network, what goes around comes around. I would like to do my fair share. See ya, bigorange. Ps- I'll keep you posted on my progress.

I sure am glad he answered and not you. Some MODERATOR you are. At least he was informative, you just seem to be browsing for your own personal amusement. Nothing else to do?..... PS- progress report,(for the sake of argument) having a little trouble encoding files correctly, using the wizard, is that the way to go?

I'm sorry I ruffled your panties there bigorange. I've been on these forums a long time and i moderate them day and night. If you cant throw in a little humor now and then what the hell can you do. I was actually complimenting you and whole-heartedly agreed with what jim_dandy said wishing there were more newbies like yourself. Judging by your last post, it seems I may be wrong.

Hey Darthnip, You didn't ruffle my panties. Sorry if I came off testy. I think it's lack of sleep on this damn PC. jim_dandy was the only one one who came to my rescue and I guess i was defending him. I'm the new guy on the block. I would like to contribute to this site any way I can ( I'm new to this dvd back-up and my help is limited, although I have figured out most of it on my own ). Seems as tho any questions I can answer has already been answered 15-20 times by others who know a LOT more than I do! If I violate decorum , just let me know and I'll behave accordingly. See ya later, I'm going to now go wash my panties. PS- One other question, when adding files to DVD X Maker, is there any way to add the entire folder or do you have to add each file one at a time, and at a time, and at a time, etc.......

hi bigorange
I thought what darthnip said was a nice compliment to you(i guess you did misunderstand)we have to be nice to our mods, they are what makes things go around here.
They close threads when rules have been broken, move threads when there in the wrong place, boot out the unruly, and help out when they have time etc.(mods are our friends)

Im not familiar with x maker, but if you followed my instruction about unzipping the first file, you should have only one, or, if there is a cd-1 and cd-2, two mpegs.Im guessing x maker is some kind of dvd authoring program so you should be able to just add both(or join them into one) and make up a menu (or not)and that will make vob files to burn on a dvd.
I hope this helps(for the sake of arguement)
keep posting your progress
jim

Hey again jim_dandy, Yes I have that guide already and several others too. See? I'm following orders and checking resources BEFORE I ask the question. Thanks for the thought tho, and that's a good idea on joining the files, just for arguement's sake. If you talk to darthnip tell him I'm wearing boxers now ( they're harder to get in a wad, lol). Well, back to the drawing board, it's only 5:00 am, still got a couple of minutes before daylight. See ya!
