We all see em, we all use em, bur do we know what they do, well I'll be brave and admit that I don't so can anyone put a guide up that will inform peeps as to what a Video ts bup does and a Video ts ifo and and a Video ts vob and vts bup and a vts ???ifo,hope I've wet someones appetite,
A basic DVD has to have a few things on it to work in your player and my player and a gillion others so they all must comform to "THE" DVD Specification that tells how a DVD must be created.
So some of the parts have names...
VOB: is a Video OBject that has the data, just like a VCR tape.
IFO: This is a navigation InFOrmation file. Your DVD player reads this while playing the VOBs in fact the IFO file is telling your DVD player HOW to play the VOB. For example do ya have your Spanish Subtitles playing? What about switching from wide to full screen? IFOs allow the different features you find on DVDs.
BUP: BackUP for the IFO! Required by the DVD Specification.
VTS: Video Title Sets. Your whole movie is made out of one or more VTS. You can have up to 100 of them, 0 thru 99. VTS are made from titles, think of them as chapter. Each VTS can have 10 titles, 0 through 9.
Each Title Set has an IFO the first title. (VTS_01_0 for example) in this IFO are one or more Program Chains. The PGC is just a bunch of cell numbers that corrispond to the cells in the VOBs So as the DVD plays through a program chain, if the Cell (ID) numbers are 1,2,3,4,7,6,5 well thats how the cells in the VOB are played.
Now before and after each Program Chain there are commands...precommands before the PGC and Post commands after These give your player instructions on what to do. You may have a pre command to skip a section if your player has been told to do that when it gets to this part. kinda like a train coming to a switch. A post command can tell your player to go to the next PGC, go to the menu or whatever has been set for a command and depending on how your player is programmed.
