I bought a few discs of a popular TV show on DVD. Much to my dismay I find that the discs are all flippers, which I absolutely LOATHE. Rather than deal with the crap that comes with them I decided I'd use my extensive stock of blank discs and burn each flipper onto one DVD-R. Each side of a disc is only about 2.9 gigs so I can get by with minimal compression (even less if I dump the lame-ass extras).

I figure my only option would be to rip the DVDs with, say, SmartRipper and create my own menu systems for the raw video files. My expertise in creating my own menus is somewhat limited, so I'm looking for alternative ideas or concrete tips on programs and methods I could use.

Thanks in advance and sorry if this is an old topic, search turned up nothing.

It would appear that DVD2One is the answer to my problems. Even though I'm a bit red in the face right now, any additional tips and instructions are welcome.

You can do it with DVD Shrink in Re-author mode.

Yep DVD Shrink in Re-Author mode is definately the way to go.

Once you click on re-author you are able to select files from anywhere on your computer and drives to add to your new compilation.

I'd suggest that you rip at least one side of flipper onto your HD before you start (best case scenario - both). Then select the files and drag them across from the browser screen on the right to the DVD Structure screen on the left. You can even choose individual compression rates for each file to get the quality finish you want.

The order of the files can be altered using the up and down arrows at the top of the structure box.

My best advice for NEWBIES is:"use the search function.

lol - i fail to see why you are doing this just to save yourself hassle. With Flippers, you would have to get up from your seat, go to the DVD player and then turn the disc over. Now you will have to get up, eject the disc, put it in its case, get the new disc, and insert it - seems like you're adding hassle rather than taking it away....:-)
