I doubt it. nForce 4 audio is usually alright unless you're in a very CPU-intensive application, so there may be a problem, but if there is, I wouldn't have a clue where to start looking!

Hey all. I know alot about computers (I think) but imma need some help on this one... I'm thinkin of repacing my processor but kinda worried if the processor I install isnt compatible with my motherboard (which all I know about it is that was made in 2002) which my cause damage to my computer. At the moment I have a "Athlon XP 2200+ 1.8 Ghz/133FSB/266 Bus Speed", which in my opinion sucks ass. Imma need more power so I can work better with FL Studio (like add more vsts, etc.) Anyway... I was thinkin of replacin it with a "AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+ / 1MB Cache / 2000MHz FSB / Socket 939 / Dual-Core / Processor with Fan", but...I don't know my motherboards stocket type/# =( Also... do I need glue for the new fan??? Oh ya... should I do all this or just get a new 3ghz intel p4 from dell??? Plz reply lol thx

your current cpu is a socket 462 so need new motherboard. don't get a dell or other name brands as not easily upgraded as clones.

Just adding a few cents, go with what DDP said.
If you already thought about swapping your processor, just get a good motherboard that is compatible, read a few pages back on this thread or read this one
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/344865
to get ideas and see links to products. Take the guts out of your old one and put it in the new and you wont believe the difference.
You can do twice as good on your own as buying a Dell.

karim.. or whateaver..
u need a socket 939 socket motherboard and pc3200 ram
you currently have a socket A motherboard.
which uses pc2700 RAM.. so you are looking at a new build
i dont see the need for that duel core..
why not a 3800 X2 those overclock very nicely.
and that opens up money so that you can get everything
that you need..
and if it is an 2002.. it probably has ide.
which to ata.. (sata2)
this is taking bottlenecks out of your computer to give you optimal
performance..
and i would go for 2 gig of ram for that duel core..
but most people go with 1.. Whatever

i hope i helped..

Karim1988 you'll see that different "socket numbers 462, 939, etc" comply either AMD or Intel. Most people prefer AMD brands for the type

you chose in that performance/ money range. But like FISHNERD said there are other options that can be good too.

Karim: You can't do damage trying to insert a compatible CPU, unless you force it into the wrong socket. If it fits, even if it isn't compatible, it shouldn't do any harm. Your XP is Socket A (462) and doesn't suck ass, but isn't top spec any more. However, the excellent X2 4200+ is socket 939 so you will need a new board. They come as retail so you won't need to get a fan and gunk unless you're a modder but DON'T BUY A DELL! They'll fob you off with some rubbishy P4 630!

Go AMD for now!
It depends how good you want the PC to be as to what else you need:

RAM - if you don't have much (in 2002, much wasn't the norm) then you'll want to get more (PC3200 is the best buy now, but early stuff is still compatible)
GPU - if your PC's 4 years old then a new Graphics card may not be a bad idea
PSU - Almost certainly you will need a good Power supply to meet the upped demands of newer components.
Case - if your current one is small and cramped you may need better airflow, so it's a thought...

Only basic mobos support the MX420 if it's AGP. If it's PCI you're alright but then it'll be even slower. Might as well make use of an upgrade to PCI express.

Sure. If it's PCI you can go AGP OR PCI express and then upgrade whenever you want!

now you see why to go with clone over namebrand as clones usually have current videocards or slots if video is onboard whereas name brands usually only have pci slots for upgrading video.

Yeah, except in my case, most prebuilds don't let you change much. I was fortunate that my prebuild came with an AGP GPU that I could upgrade.

i have an RD480..
and it works fantastic..
it was 110.00 and it has duel PCIe slots for crossfire..
and can hold 4 gig of ram..
it also has an overclocking feature and a very good bios.
it has everything..
a lott better than my 65.00 MSI RX480 motherboard taht i had..
my mom has an emachine that is close to yours and she has agp.. but just soo you know.. agp is half the speed that PCIe is capible of ..
anotherwards go with the pciE to be futureproof.. and normally.. the better boards are PCIe capible..

Hello,

I noticed on one side of my new monitor that it looks a little pink on the right side when there is a white background. Is this a pixel problem? Should I return the monitor, or is this normal and unavoidable?

Thanks!

What's the monitor? It sounds more to do with contrast than pixels. A dead pixel will mean one dot on the screen that's always one colour. A whole area means the monitor isn't giving you the right signal generally.
